What to Wear For Your Maternity Session

Congratulations on expecting! I’m so excited to capture this very special time in your life!

My style of maternity photography is soft and simple. I want you to feel comfortable and I want your photos to look timeless and also be a reflection of your style. You'll want to choose outfits that make you feel comfortable, confident, and showcase your beautiful baby bump. Here are some tips on what to wear for you maternity photo session:

1. Choose solid colors or simple patterns: Solid colors tend to work well in photographs, especially in neutral tones like white, black, beige, or pastels. They keep the focus on you and your baby bump. If you prefer patterns, go for simple ones like stripes or small prints.

2. Highlight your best features: Choose outfits that emphasize your favorite features. For example, if you love your legs, consider wearing a knee-length dress. If you want to show off your shoulders, try a strapless or off-the-shoulder top.

3. Maximize comfort: When you’re pregnant, the last thing you want to be is wearing something uncomfortably tight or staggering in heels. Opt for fabrics that are soft and stretchy, such as cotton or jersey blends. Avoid anything scratchy or restrictive. If you prefer heels, they definitely can photograph well and elongate your body, but arrive in some comfortable shoes. You can slip on the heels once your in front of the backdrop.

4. If you’re session is outdoors and you plan on wearing heels, consider buying heel stoppers to prevent from sinking into the grass.

5. Don't forget about accessories: Accessories can add interest and personality to your photos. Consider wearing a statement necklace or even an heirloom or a piece of jewelry that is meaningful. These photos will last forever, so all those details will make a difference and add your own touch to your photos.

6. Coordinate with your partner or family: If your partner or other family members will be joining the session, coordinate your outfits to create a cohesive look. This doesn't mean you need to match exactly, but choosing complementary colors or styles can make the photos more visually appealing.

7. Don't be afraid to experiment: Feel free to explore different styles and try on various outfits before the session. Take some test shots in front of a mirror to see how they look and make adjustments if needed.

8. Where to shop: Brands I love are Baltic Born, Pink Blush, and the ever easy and popular Amazon.

Remember, the most important thing is to feel comfortable and confident in what you wear. Ultimately, your maternity photos should capture this beautiful stage of your life, so choose outfits that reflect your personal style and make you feel amazing.
